RI Trend via EHR Access
The EHR RI Trend view is accessible via a URL embedded into an organization’s EHR*. The integration provides seamless access to a patient’s RI Trend graph and their clinical data within the existing workflow of the end user. When reviewing a specific patient chart within the EHR, by selecting RI Trend link the patient’s RI Trend graph will be launched within the viewer of the EHR with patient context
maintained.
Various list view configuration options are available to select to determine how the patients are displayed when RI Trend is launched to include Facility view, Unit view, Patient List view, and Single Patient view. In some instances, EHR constraints will dictate which view configuration options are accessible to the user. The EHR view will automatically refresh every 1 minute and display a last updated date/time stamp.
With EHR launch buttons being accessible from within the EHR user interface, the user will not be required to separately log-in to RI Trend. Authentication of the user is delegated to the electronic health record system. However, RI Trend validates the security principal passed from the EHR against the security directory to obtain group memberships for authorization.
Additional security, e.g. the option to encrypt the URL that is called by the EHR when launching RI Trend via the EHR, may be configured according to the needs and capabilities of each customer and EHR system. The method of encryption and URL is dependent upon each EHR vendor. EHR specific integration documents are available from the Spacelabs Implementation Engineer.
Note: For EPIC EHR clients, there are additional integration features available for configuration. Please speak with your Spacelabs Implementation Engineer for additional information.
EHR Integration Setup and Interaction
Spacelabs recommends that organizations create two integration launch points for RI Trend within the EHR. One launch point takes the user to the Array View of RI Trend, from which specific patient graphs may be selected. When a user returns to the Arrav View, the assignment, filter and settings applied will be retained and displayed. The second launch point takes users directly to the single patient graph view when launching RI Trend from within a specific patient chart or record.
