Accessing RI Trend

RI Trend can be accessed through a web-based URL on dedicated workstations,
most often used in a centralized surveillance location. Upon accessing RI Trend, a login option is presented to the user.

Array View

Upon login, the RI Trend dashboard displays the large array view of patients' graphs within an end user's assignment section. Patients are shown grouped together by warning state by default.

Header Menu

The header menu at the top of the screen offers a range of essential features for enhanced usability, including:

  • User Profile Menu
  • Patient Search
  • Watchlist
  • Warnings Panel
  • Refresh Icon
  • Last Refresh date/ Timestamp
  • Filter menu

User Profile Menu

On the top right side of the screen, is the User Profile Menu. To access, click the User Profile icon and select 'logout' from the drop-down menu. End users are recommended to logout of the application at a minimum of every 12 hours.

Patient Search

The search field is used to locate a specific patient within the organization. The search is not restricted by filter selections and will find and return a patient even if it is filtered out of the currently displayed array view. Only patients that a user is blacklisted from accessing will not return in the list.

Clicking the search icon will open the search panel docked to the right side of the Array View dashboard. Returned results will display for any database matches related to a patient's first name, last name, MRN or visit ID. Partial matches on patient's first or last names may occur as the first few characters are entered into the search field, but results will become more exact as additional letters are entered. The search function will start to show a list of matching patient results by name (Last, First) in order of most recent admit once 3 characters have been entered into the search bar. The search results will update with each additional character entered into or deleted from the search bar. Selecting a patient from the list will open the patient Specific View screen for that patient. To clear the text entered into the input field, tap the 'X' within the search bar. To cancel  a search and exit out of the search mode, click the 'X' in the header bar/row.

Watchlist

Patients who need to be closely monitored can be added to a Watchlist. There are two types of watchlists, the personal watchlists and public watchlist.

Open the Watchlist Menu by clicking on the Watchlist icon in the array view header. The menu shows the user's personal watchlist, called 'My watchlist' and a list of all public watchlists. sorted by the user's most viewed public watchlist. To activate a watchlist click on the watchlist tile from the menu. A lane with the title of the watchlist selected will appear at the top of the Array View page.

To add a patient to the active Watchlist, right click on a graph on the dashboard and a menu will appear. selecting the 'Add to Watchlist' option from the menu will add the associated patient to the active Watchlist. If no watchlist has been selected to display on the array view page, the default destination is the user's 'My Watchlist'. The added patient(s) will display in the watchlist lane. To exit the menu without adding the patients to the watchlist, select close.

The patient(s) graph will continue to appear in the general grouping lanes as applicable in addition to now also appearing in the Watchlist lane when it is active. The graphs will display in the lane in the default order of the Array View or any order selected in the 'Order By' setting option in the filter menu. Any filter options that are selected and applied to the Array View will not apply to the Watchlist and will not filter the graphs within this section. When the 'Group By' setting in the filter menu is set to 'None (All patients)', and the watchlist is active, the Watchlist section will remain at the top of the Array View dashboard in its own lane while the remaining graphs from the other grouping lanes will display grouped together below, ina  lane titled 'Array View'.

To remove a patient from the active watchlist, right click on the patients graph and select the 'Remove from Watchlist'. The graph will no longer appear within the Watchlist lane. To exit the menu without removing the patient from the Watchlist, select Close.

To deactivate the Watchlist lane, select the active Watchlists title in the Watchlist menu. The watchlist lane is removed from the Array View on the user's next login.

The Watchlist state percisits across individual use sessions. If a watchlist is active and appears at the top of the Array View when the user logs out, the same Watchlist.will be active and appear at the top of the Array View on the users next login.

Public Watchlists

To create and publish a public Watchlist that will be accessible by other users, open the Watchlist menu and select the '+' icon. This will create a text input box in the Watchlist Menu. Enter a name for the new Watchlist. The name must be unique, cannot be blank and may not be 'My Watchlist'. Upon creation the new list becomes active on the Array View page. Any patients added to the public list will be viewable by other users. A patient visit may be added to one or more watchlists.

Users may edit the name of a public Watchlist by selecting the pencil icon to the right of Watchlist title. Once the edit is complete, click the save icon to save the change and activate the Watchlist on the Array VIew page or the cancel button to not complete the change.

To delete a public Watchlist, there must be no patient visits currently associated with that Watchlist. When a list no longer has any patient visits associated with it, a trash icon will appear to the right of the watchlist title. To delete the list, click the icon and confirm the deletion in the pop-up dialog.

Once a visit is discharged, the patient visit will no longer appear in any of the Watchlists it had been associated. This feature is available in the Trend application for any access method of direct URL or integrated EHR URL. Kiosks are read-only and do not support Watchlist functionality.

Warnings Panel

The Warnings Panel is a scrollable list of active warning notifications for patients received during an end user’s RI Trend session. When a patient within the current filter selections or on an active watchlist enters a warning state, the Warning Icon (triangle-shaped icon) indicates a new warning needs to be viewed. A red notification count bubble of unread warnings is visible next to the warning icon. By clicking on the warning icon, a list of patients in the user’s current assignment that have had an active warning notification trigger up to 2 hours prior to login will display in a panel docked to the right side of the Array View.

The user is able to track and monitor warning state change notifications with “unread” warnings grouped at the top of the list above the “read” warnings. The “unread” warnings are denoted with a light blue shading and a triangular warning icon. The warnings are then listed in chronological order with the most recent warning at the top and oldest at the bottom. Within the Warnings panel, patients will be listed with the following detailed information:

  • The RI score when warning was triggered
  • Patient Name
  • MRN
  • Current Location
  • Warning Severity
  • The effective warning date/time
  • The warning created date/time

The warning notification can be dismissed by clicking the 'X' in the upper right corner of the warning card. Performing this action will remove the warning notification from the panel. Each time a warning notification is dismissed, the notification counter at the top of the screen decreases by one. Clicking the actual warning card itself will launch the Patient Specific View for the selected patient. This action marks the warning as “read,” turns the warning card gray, and drops the card to the bottom of the Warnings list, and the unread warning count will decrease. To exit the Warnings Panel, click the 'X' located at the top of the Warnings Panel.

Refresh Rate

An automatic refresh of the array view dashboard occurs every minute by default. Should the end user desire to manually refresh the dashboard, simply clicking on the refresh icon refreshes the Array View. The refresh time is updated and visible to the left of the refresh icon. The timestamp reflects the last time the array view was refreshed.
