Alarm Modeling
Understanding the effect of alarm modifications can be a cumbersome process. Gathering baseline data, making the change, and then measuring the changes takes time and acceptance of risk. The Alarm Modeling tool in SNS helps to speed up the time and accuracy before making changes to the physical device. Alarm Modeling reviews your actual alarms over the selected period of time and allows you to run a real-world scenario on how a change to the default parameter would decrease or increase the number of alarms based on the start value of an alarm.
Example: You have 10000 low SpO2 alarms in the last 2 weeks with a default low limit of 90%. Enter a new low limit of 88%, click update, and you will see that alarms you would have experienced is now 8500 (decreased by 15%). This whole process took less than a minute. Traditional alarm changes would have taken weeks to months.
Note: Running scenarios does not change your parameter – it is a visual representation of how a change could impact the alarm totals. |
