Mobile Application Testing Plan

The intent for testing is to validate the technical pieces for the project. This includes access, interfaces, and integrations listed below.

Prerequisites for Testing

  • SnS to be made available on the workstation 
  • Barcode Scanner attached to the workstation
  • A Transmitter or Bedside Monitor 
  • A Test Patient ID
  • A Simulator 
  • Caregiver
  • Monitor Technician
  • Identify at least 2 tele boxes and one bedside monitor before testing.
  • Confirm the device is setup in XprezzNet and in SNS. 

Admitting Patient

  1. Log into SafeNSound
  2. Select the Bedside Module located in the bottom right corner 
    1. Select the Barcode icon to begin Scanning the Device
      1. Confirm the device shows a green check mark along the right side. This confirms the device is available for use.
    2. Select the Barcode icon to begin Scanning the Patient ID Band
      1. Confirm the test Patient information shows accurately, along with a green check mark.
    3. Confirm the Bed field is populated, and correct
      1. This field is auto populated from the ADT stream. This can also be populated for units such as ED, ICU, etc. where a Bedside Monitor is not mobile. We can assign each of those to a specific room, auto populating this field regardless of an ADT message including the room.
    4. Optionally, select a Monitoring Type
      1. Primarily this function serves as a reminder to a Central Monitoring Room in regards to a specific patient type.
    5. Click 'Associate Device'

Note: If the device you are assigning to a patient, is a telemetry transceiver or a bedside monitor in a location that is assisted by a Monitor Technician this will require the Monitor Tech testing user to interact and accept the notification. 

Confirming Alarms, Vitals, Waveforms & Temporary Location

  1. Connect a simulator to the device
  2. Confirm vitals are populating into SNS
    1. Select the test Patient, select the Vitals tab
  3. Generate an alarm with the simulator
  4. Confirm alarm is populating int SNS within 30 seconds. 
    1. Select the test Patient, select the Alarms tab
  5. Confirm waveforms are populating into SnS
    1. Select the test Patient, select the Waveforms Tab 
  6. Documenting an event
    1. Select anywhere on that waveform
    2. Place a caliper anywhere on that event and Save
  7. Approving the saved event (Monitor Tech Access Required. Not possible from Mobile)
    1. Approving an event can happen in 3 different ways. Choose one:
    2. Select 'Approval All'

Messaging and Calling

  1. Select a patient.
  2. Confirm role is assigned as Primary Caregiver.

Test each of the following scenarios:

  1. Call and message caregiver from main desktop app as monitor tech.
  2. Call and message Monitor Tech from mobile app.
  3. Call and message other Caregiver user also using mobile app.
  4. Call and message from Android to iOS and iOS to Android, then from Android to Android and iOS to iOS.

Assigning Primary and Secondary Caregiver

  1. On my patient dashboard select a patient
  2. Under the overview tab select the plus sign that says assign underneath
  3. Select primary or secondary

Discharge Patient

  1. Select the Bedside Module located in the bottom right corner 
    1. Select the Barcode icon to begin Scanning the Device
    2. Click 'Disassociate Device'

This will remove the patient from the associated device within the system. 

Note: If the device you are dissociating from a patient, is a telemetry transceiver or a bedside monitor in a location that is assisted by a Monitor Technician this will require the Monitor Tech testing user to interact and accept the notification. 

Validation via Testing

  • Confirming SnS has been installed and is accessible to staff
  • Confirms AD/LDAP functionality 
  • Confirms device list, and connectivity is functional 
  • Confirms ADT feed is functional and accurate to the patient ID band
  • Confirms XprezzNet connectivity is accurate
  • Confirms document integration connection is correct
