Admitting Patient
- Log into SafeNSound
- If not already present select the Bedside Module located in the bottom right corner
- Begin scanning the Device barcode
- Confirm the device shows a green check mark along the right side. This confirms the device is available for use.
- Begin Scanning the Patient ID Band
- Confirm the test Patient information shows accurately, along with a green check mark.
- Confirm the Bed field is populated, and correct
- This field is auto populated from the ADT stream. This can also be populated for units such as ED, ICU, etc. where a Bedside Monitor is not mobile. We can assign each of those to a specific room, auto populating this field regardless of an ADT message including the room.
- Begin scanning the Device barcode
-
- Optionally, select a Monitoring Type
- Primarily this function serves as a reminder to a Central Monitoring Room in regards to a specific patient type.
- Optionally, select a Monitoring Type
-
- Click 'Associate Device'
Opportunity for Education
- Reset Device (Bedside Monitor Functionality Only) - This will clear the monitor, and reset it to your default settings. If you are late admitting, please toggle this off to preserve your settings and captured data on your patient. By default this is enabled is ensures each new admit starts from default settings.
- Auto Assignment - By default this is toggled on. This assigns the patient to the scanning caregiver in Staff Assignment. If toggled off, the patient will not be assigned to the scanning caregiver and will require assignment manually.
-
- If Staff Assignment integration (ROL Segment Capturing, etc) is in use, it will override the Auto Assignment Toggle located in SafeNSound Bedside
-
Assigning Primary and Secondary Caregiver

- Select caregiver and assign patients.
Discharge Patient

This removal in SafeNSound can take up to 5 minutes. The bedside monitor is placed into Standby mode with this selection eliminating any nuisance alarms while the device is not in use.
Note: If the patient is associated with an unmanaged device then the caregiver can discharge the patient from the details tab located in the overview screen. Monitor Techs and Admins have the discharge option under details regardless if the device is managed or unmanaged. |
