Staff Assignment Tab

To access staff assignment click the staffing icon on the left hand side of the screen. In SafeNSound, a patient can only be assigned to one primary caregiver and one secondary caregiver at a time. This “Other” feature allows one more staff position to create a “My Patient/Dashboard” list, without pulling the patient from the Primary or Secondary caregiver role.


Assign Caregivers to Rooms

  1. Select the caregiver.
  2. Select the phone number.
  3. Select the rooms by dragging the room from the top of the page, to the assignment area under the appropriate caregiver, or by free typing the room number and selecting it from the choices provided.
  4. Repeat step 1 to step 3 for each staff member. Data is saved at each point of entry. There is not a Save button. When a Monitor Tech communicates by phone or quick message, these assignments are used. Quick Messages automatically sends to the Primary, Secondary, and Department
    level contact, if selected.

Add Phone Numbers

  1. Click the Ellipsis icon.
  2. Select Add Phone Number tab.
  3. Type in phone number.
  4. Click Add. The phone number is now available for the caregiver staff assignment.


Assign Unit Caregivers Information

  1. Click the Ellipsis icon.
  2. Select the Unit Caregivers tab.
  3. Add a contact for charge nurse, house supervisor, and nurse's station.
  4. Then, lock the numbers in place by selecting the Lock icon. These contacts are automatically assigned to each Patient upon admit.


Assign Facility/Unit Information

  1. Click the Ellipsis icon.
  2. Select the Department Caregivers tab.
  3. Using the toggle buttons, select the Facilities/Units.  Selecting the facilities or departments, the departments are populated at the top of the screen.


Print Staff Assignments

  1. Select the Print icon in the top right corner.


Clear The Assignments

1 During shift changes, the assignments can be cleared by the following two options:

  • Select Garbage icon in the top right-hand corner of the page. This action clears the entire staff assignment list to allow for adding of new staff.
  • Select the Garbage icon in each caregiver section. This action clears the specific staff member and assignments. If a single caregiver is leaving the shift or changing departments, the Clear is helpful when the entire list does not require updates.


Special Permissions

In SafeNSound, the Special Permission feature provides temporary 14-hour access as a Monitor Technician. This function however applies to two roles:

  • Caregivers
  • Managers

In the event a caregiver or manager need to fill in as a monitor technician, follow the steps below to achieve that result.

To give special permissions to fill in as a monitor technician

  1. Select the Profile icon in the top right corner of the Dashboard.
  2. Toggle on Monitor Tech permissions.
  3. Click Save.
  4. Log back into SafeNSound. Upon logging in you are now a monitor technician for 14 hours. To disable the special permissions, perform steps 1 and 2 again.


As a Monitor Technician, you see your role change in two places: check boxes to assign patients to yourself, as well as the Notification icons marked in the top right.
