Patient Waveforms Tab

The Waveform tab allows the Monitor Technician and care team members to view the patients waveforms and save any events. Waveform integration is available to send saved events to the EMR. Saved events store within SafeNSound for 2 years. The SafeNSound Waveforms management module allows you to view up to 14 days of retrospective waveforms.

Available In The Waveforms Tab:

  • Strip Navigation: Select the single arrow right or left (44 Second Navigation or 1 page), the double-arrow right or left (30-minute Navigation), or a click on a specific time/date at the bottom.
  • Device Selection: Ability to view data on a specific device, selected from the drop-down menu.
  • Parameters Selection: Select desired parameters (feeds) from the drop down menu. Select for ECG, Respiration, SpO2, and Invasive Pressures waveforms. Use the refresh toggle to view the most recent waveform data.

From the Waveform tab, the user can save events, change the waveform size, and lock the calipers.

  1. Select either the single arrow (right or left) provides 10 Second Navigation, or the double arrows provide 30 Minute Navigation. The +3 or -3 allows you to navigate + or - 3 seconds.
  2. Increase and decrease scale of waveform by hovering over gain multiplier next to the left of the waveform. Click on the 10mm/mV size to change from 0.25x, 0.5x, 1x (normal), 2x and 4x in size. When the strip is selected in the 6 second format, it saves in the standard 10mm/mV size.
  3. Click within the time navigation bar at the bottom of the screen to go to a specific point in time, up to 14 days. The lowest time bar provides the day and time bar above it represents the hours of the day.
  4. Click waveform feed for viewing multiple parameters
  5. Option for saving a 6-second Strip or utilizing the Compressed view to save up to10 minutes of data.

Locking Calipers

To use the calipers on selected waveforms:

1. Scroll over the desired waveform. A light-blue snip-it area is shown.

2. Click the waveform to open a snapshot.

3. Hover over the Caliper icon and desired parameter measurement.

4. Click and drag in the desired area of the waveform to measure the beat. (Scroll over the caliper line to drag and change the measurement.) Calipers can be removed by clicking on the "x" next to caliper measurement, if added in error.  Users can create as many instances of any singled caliper, as desired, with the exception of the ST caliper.  Multiple calipers of the same type will create an average measurement in the Saved Event Information area.    Calipers may only be placed on the top lead, except for the ST caliper.  The ST segment can be measured across all leads. The QTc Measurement is calculated using the Bazett formula.

5. Click in the Rhythm Interpretation(s) field and select the appropriate rhythm interpretation from the Primary, Secondary, and Critical categories. User can also choose from “most recent” rhythm interpretations listed below the populated field. Close rhythm interpretations options by clicking away from the pop-up categories.

6. Type a note below or use the tags below the notes section. Flag the waveform, if necessary, by clicking the Flag icon.

7. Select Save or Approve as applicable. Approving a Saved Event will sent the event to the Electronic Medical Record.
